An End Launch Connector is a coaxial connector that can connect a coaxial cable to a test board. The connector is mounted at the end or edge of a PCB board. This connector is used to transition microwave energy from a coaxial cable to a circuit on a PCB board. They are present in three main configurations, such as Vertical End-Launch connectors, Angled End-Launch connectors, and Horizontal End-Launch connectors.

End Launch Connectors are usually favored to regular connectors as their design reduces reflections as compared to vertical-mount or right-angle mount connectors. These connectors are usually used for high-frequency options or where high performance is necessary. For most applications under 6 GHz, regular commercial connectors, which are done by soldering to the PCB board can be used as they are more lucrative and easily available.

About micro coax connector

The size of the center conductor utilized in the coaxial cable is explained using an AWG Standard and the larger the AWG number, the smaller the size of the center conductor. In common, coaxial cables with an external cable width of ~1 mm or less are known as micro-coaxial cables. This type of cable is extensively utilized for signal show amid module boards within devices such as tablets, PCs, and smartphones, in addition to precision tools used for industrial, medical, aviation, automotive, etc.

Micro-Coaxial Connectors are primarily used to join digital signals amid module boards by the disparity transmission way utilizing these cables. To carry out appropriate signal transmission, the center conductor which broadcasts the signal needs to be connected to the signal circuit on the board via the contacts of the connector. The outer conductor of the cable needs to be electrically connected on the board via metal parts of the connector known as the Shell. The electrical connection of the outer conductor to board via the connector shell is known as “grounding”.

Why is Micro-Coaxial Cable the best choice for High-Speed Applications?

As high-speed internet enhances and the usage of large-capacity memory devices enhances, high-quality images and videos can be enjoyed more effortlessly on consumer products such as tablets, PCs, and smartphones. The amount of information that requires to be processed on the device has noticeably increased and the signal speed in the device has been getting quicker and quicker.

With the current increase in signal broadcast speed the practice of micro-coaxial cables for jumper connections in devices is increasing.
